Pillow inserts
I offer two kinds of inserts for my pillow covers. You can choose between the traditional feather/down insert and an insert made from organic wool.
Feather/down inserts
These stuffers are made from a mix of 10% goose down and 90% goose feathers. The casing is made of cotton. This insert creates a firm but pliable pillow shape.
It reshapes easily and is durable. Occasionally feathers will "leak" out of the pillow casing. The down and feathers used in most down products are harvested from living goose or ducks and, pending on the method used, may be harmful to the birds. This insert is the least expensive option. Care: This insert should be spot cleaned and aired out as needed. It should not be machine-washed.
Organic wool inserts
These pillow inserts are made from 100% organic wool. The casing is made from organic cotton. This insert is very soft and comfortable. It makes a fluffier pillow shape that sometimes is difficult to reshape. The inserts are made by Holy Lamb Organics in Olympia, Washington. The sheep that provide the wool are raised in the region and the wool is harvested without harm to the animals. The sheep are not dipped or treated with chemicals prior to sheering. No chemicals are used to treat the wool after harvest. This insert is more expensive than the feather/down option. Care: This inserts should be spot cleaned and aired out as needed. It can be machine-washed. This should be done infrequently and with extra care. Washing instructions will be included when you purchase your pillow.
